Prenatal Care

I believe that pregnancy and birth is a holistic process and a life transforming experience. Emotionally and physically both you and your baby are active players in the pregnancy, labor, and birth journey.

Prenatal Care

Orange County prenatal care appointments typically last about 60 minutes. This allows me (midwife Orange County) adequate time to evaluate you and your baby’s well-being and offer everything that is standard in obstetrical care with enough time left over to answer your questions, discuss your desires, provide education, and build a relationship with you as your provider. One of my favorite pieces of the midwifery model of care!

Prenatal visits along with any standard lab work, will be done in the comfort of your own home.

I come to you!

  • Up to 28 weeks I see you every 4 weeks

  • From 28 - 36 weeks I see you every 2 weeks

  • From 36 - 42 weeks I see you weekly

  • Additional appointments can be made as necessary.

Prenatal care comes standard with my home birth package and at any point at which I join you in your pregnancy journey.

Assessing you and your baby includes monitoring your vitals and screening for any risk factors at each appointment. My focus is on keeping you and your baby healthy to maintain a low-risk pregnancy and prevent problems from arising! A big part of this is discussing your nutritional, physical, and emotional needs during your pregnancy. At each visit I palpate your belly and baby to assess your baby’s position, chart its growth, and encourage you to build an awareness of this little life inside you. Your baby’s beating heart is listened to with a handheld doppler or fetoscope.

Shared decision making, evidence based options, and client autonomy are the cornerstone of your care. Referrals are made as indicated or requested by your family. I will work together with you to ensure you have the information you need to make informed decisions.
